It is incredibly juicy, aromatic and wonderfully sweet: the traditional Christstollen biscuit. For many generations, we at the Eckert bakery have been producing the original from Dresden and have always been refining our recipe. In the process, new creations such as our Marzipan Raisin Stollen are created again and again. The fine almond note gives this classic yeast pastry a particularly bittersweet note that is simply irresistible. Taste it too and be enchanted by its unique taste!
The Original Christstollen refined with marzipan
Did you know that although there is a basic recipe for the Dresden Christmas Stollen, it is individually refined by the bakers in the district? These little tricks are the best-kept secret of the region and turn every Stollen into a little work of art.
And while our family was experimenting with the Stollen dough in this way, we also tried different additions again and again. In this way, new creations were always created, which perfected the aroma of the classic dough even more. In this way, marzipan also found its way into Christmas pastries - because this combination was actually quite obvious, after all both are festive treats.
And so many generations worked on the perfect composition until the marzipan sultana stollen was finally created. Today it is known far beyond the borders of Saxony. Because while it looks like the classic Christmas Stollen on the outside, it has a surprise in store for the palate. The very light, subtle almond marzipan note enchants the taste buds and makes it a particularly popular speciality of our bakery.
A taste experience of a special kind
Are you still looking for an original gift for your relatives and friends? Something typically Saxon? Then you should definitely try the incredibly delicious marzipan-raisin stollen from the Eckert bakery. The refined original is the highlight of the Advent table and brings a little variety.
By the way: Since we have kept the rum sultanas in this recipe, the Stollen also has a particularly long shelf life. These have a natural preservative effect. Like the original, you should simply store it in a dark, cool place, then it can even be eaten until Easter.
